''For Life Has Deemed it So''

Why does it seem, at times, that those who pursue freedom and justice for the masses or even simply for themselves seem to encounter people who and circumstances that seek to oppose or even obliterate them? As you embark on the pursuit of your own freedom, here are three suggested reasons for the obstacles you might face:
1. Jealousy
Within the small scale of day-to-day human interaction, some of the resistance you will encounter will be based on simple jealousy. Some people observe others breaking out of the box and simply want to pull them down so as to feel better about themselves.
2. The existential threat to society
On a larger scale, the world's governing institutions are based on certain constructs, and the sad truth is that true freedom, fulfillment, happiness and justice for the masses are not among these. Capitalism is based and functions best on a certain amount of exploitation. It's the nature of the beast. Those on top have the freedom, power and control because those on the bottom do the work.
Even if you all you want is to be free of smartphones, the internet of things, social media and the never-ending parade of new apps to download (including, perhaps this very app you might be using to read this), it becomes increasingly difficult to do so since more and more of daily life--from buying airline tickets to banking to making toast--are all being inextricably linked to having a phone and a wi-fi/data plan. Yes, it appears that true freedom and happiness often run counter to the grain of modern society.
However, beyond the threat your success is perceived to pose to others, and beyond the economy-destabilizing, power-structure-threatening, status-quo toppling, pecking-order reversing, weatlh-norm-inverting threat to society that real individual freedom often poses, there's yet another more profound reason you will face challenges attempting to move from one level of consciousness or from one identity to another:
3. Growth requires it
Yes, quite simply, growth requires it.
In the grandest scheme of things--i.e. on a universal, spiritual and metaphysical level--the opposition to your goals and aspirations do not arise in order to deter you from reaching those goals. The challenges you will inevitbaly face exist as a sort of proving ground--a rite of passage, an initiation, a load test, an entrance exam, a checkpoint challenge, a lesson to be learned--that test your mettle and establish your qualifications and readiness to graduate to the next level of achievement and enlightenment!
So, take heart. Your goals and dreams are achievable, but there will be challenges. And, the bigger the dream, the bigger the challenges. And, when you ask yourself why, just remember...
FOR LIFE HAS DEEMED IT SO
There has to be some obstacle
some roadblock or a wall
Some reason and the chance
for you to rise after a fall
There'll always be some depth to plumb
some height for you to reach
There has to be some setback
with a lesson it will teach
You'll always find some boundary
some ceiling that's too low
For how else will your world expand?
and how else will you grow?
There's bound to be some nemesis
arch rivals in your lot
A story without conflict
needs some spice thrown in the plot!
Yes, even mighty rocket ships
fight gravity and wind
Resistance to your rise
is how all gains in life begin!
p.s.
No need to fret or ponder
over reasons or the rhyme
No point to seek or hide
for it will find you every time!
