I sense the touch of sadness as it drifts across your face
And parts of me so wish that with a smile I could replace
I know well where it comes from for its touch I've felt before
A touch that keeps your spirit tame and silences your roar
Perhaps you've lost a battle and have given up the fight
Perhaps you once were judged and now you feel you have no right
Perhaps you gave your heart away and nothing was returned
Perhaps you've never lived the life you feel that you have earned
Perhaps you simply wish you could your choices now undo
Perhaps you wish the world was made to honor souls like you
It's likely you may never share what thoughts now dim your brow
So listen as I share instead what's true for you right now
It's not too late to dream again, as when you were a child
It's not too late to find your spark, it's not too late to smile
And one step forward's all it takes to leave this place behind
So sadness when it comes around you won't be there to find
Escape the reach of sadness that now has you in its clutch
And step towards your dreams and far away beyond its touch
