Want to share an inspiring series of emails with you.
TO: Walt Goodridge
FROM: MARY KAY K,
Hey Walt,
How are you? Hope all is well. I am writing because [my employer] has offered a voluntary severance package to all employees and I am contemplating taking it.

You may remember that I have a Mary Kay business going on 3.5 years now. It's been doing ok. I believe it would do a lot better with a full time effort on my part.

I feel like I just need to get of the 'treadmill' for a minute. This seems opportune as I would leave with about six months salary. I realize we could blow thru that in a heart beat but I am willing to take the chance.

I believe we'll be more than ok - we'll be great [financially] with me making this move. But at the moment that is all there is - belief - nothing in black and white for my very responsible husband to feel confident in.

Anyway, I remember having a similar conversation with you, years ago. Here I find myself in a reverse position, now totally understanding what you were contemplating. Isn't life funny?

When I think of leaving I am both exhilarated and scared. But a bit more exhilarated :)

Say a prayer for me, I have until the 15th of Aug. to give my notice.

A few days later, Mary Kay K, wrote me again.

TO: Walt Goodridge
FROM: MARY KAY K,

So....................I finaly did it.

Today is my last day [on the job].

Can you believe it?

MUCH praying, meditation and wailing has taken place over the past two weeks :)

Just six months salary, a bit tooooooo much credit card debt, but never the less, here I am.

It is time and I have the feeling I am about to walk out on a cloud. Soaring to new heights beyond my dreams.

Thanks for your words that just called to me for so many years, Walt. Don't stop what you are doing - you are helping people to liberate their souls.

I'll keep you posted on my journey, Mary Kay K

My Response

TO: MARY KAY K
FROM: Walt Goodridge

YAAAAAY!!!!!~! CONGRATULATIONS!!!! My heart is with you my friend! Get ready for the ride of your life! Don't sweat the ups and downs. Expect that there'll be a ton of growth brought on by the stretching of your comfort zone. You are absolutely doing the right thing! Now, and for the rest of your life you'll never have to wonder if you could have, should have, would have, or what would have happened if....You can now write the new story that you'll tell your kids and grandkids! You've taken control of the pen and can now start writing herstory instead of his! (or theirs) It's all a game called believe, my friend. Don't look backwards. Make a promise to yourself that the only direction to go is forward ever.

If at any time, your legs start to get wobbly, pick up the phone and call. I have stories of friends and strangers who have done it that you can use to remind yourself that you have what it takes to make this work.

Here's the secret: The only way to make this dream a reality is to constantly push yourself. That's all that's required. If you don't feel like getting up---get up! If you don't feel like doing another home seminar--get up and do it! If you don't feel like making another phone call--get up and do it! Every little bit of extra energy you can pull from the wellspring of your heart and soul will push you another inch forward. It's never wasted! Don't......ever.....give....up!!!!!

So today, in honor of Mary Kay K's leap of faith, I offer you a short celebratory Life Rhyme titled

Welcome to the Other Side

You've toiled to build their dreams
but now you've bid that world farewell
The pen's now in your hands
to write the story you will tell

So write it with conviction
for it's more than just your tale
You'll offer hope to those
who dare to dream but fear to fail

You've managed half the struggle
for it's hardest just to start
And now the fun begins
the test of mettle, soul and heart

You'll weather storms and struggle
navigate the great unknown
Fly by faith like those before
but rest assured you're not alone

You've got my full support
I'll think of you and swell with pride
I always knew you had it in you
welcome to the other side!
