''Waiting for Permission''

Suppose it's never granted?
what then, friend, I need to know
Will others' limitations
hold the key to how you grow?

Suppose you never hear it?
and each shoulder tapped is cold
If no consent's forthcoming
will you put your life on hold?

No venture view or voyage
worth the effort or the pain
Is ever set about
Without first breaking through some chain

The world maintains its status quo
through those of lemming will
And shuns and shames the maverick heart
with dreams they must fulfill

But you, my friend, shall supersede
all barriers and extremes
For waiting for permission's
not the way you build your dreams
