''The Easy Game to Play''

You've played this game before, you know its barriers and tolls
You've exercised its freedoms and achieved its many goals
But when the game got easy and the final fix was in
You changed the game and acted like you knew not how to win
Then winner became loser and the player lost his skill
And teacher now as student, found another role to fill
You lapsed into un-knowingness, denied your gloried past
And made the known game hard again. A challenge now, at last!
But don't be fooled an instant, step outside and glimpse the real
It's just a different game you play to keep a game's appeal
Don't act as if you're ill-equipped to justify the botch
Just raise the stakes, set higher goals and kick it up a notch
We humans always know the why, the wherefore and the way
But act like we don't know 'cause it's the easy game to play

The Easy Game to Play (FOR ME)
I've played this game before, I know its barriers and tolls
I've exercised its freedoms and achieved its many goals
But when the game got easy and the final fix was in
I changed the game and acted like I knew not how to win
Then winner became loser and the player lost the skill
And teacher now as student, found another role to fill
I lapsed into un-knowingness, denied my gloried past
And made the known game hard again. A challenge now, at last!
I'm not fooled though for an instant, step outside and glimpse the real
It's just a different game I play to keep a game's appeal
Instead of acting ill-equipped to justify the botch
I'll raise the stakes, set higher goals and kick it up a notch
We humans always know the why, the wherefore and the way
But act like we don't know 'cause it's the easy game to play
COMMENTARY:
In my workshops, "I don't know" is not an acceptable response to the questions I ask. The truth is, you are more capable than you give yourself credit for. There is nothing new you need to become in order to do what you know must be done. You have the answer within you. You know it. I know it. So stop playing the easy game and get on with it!
