Ahhh, yes! Today is Valentines Day (US). What should I offer you as today's Inspiration? Hmmm. Maybe today I'll give in to the hype. You see, I'm one of those souls who represent the silent opposition to the forced participation in an externally imposed set of cultural expectations commonly referred to as holidays. In other words, I ask defiantly, ''Who are YOU to tell me that today is when I should express my love for so and so?'' And, ''suppose I shower my mom with gifts every day of the year, and decide not to do anything special on Mother's Day, does that make me a bad person?'' (I guess I have my own authority issues, but that's an Inspiration for another day!)

So anyway, this morning, I rack my brains, open myself up for inspiration as I've done these last 285 Fridays, calling on my muse (she seems to have taken the day off!), as I ask just what I can offer to be timely, and innovative for passion seekers on Valentines Day. Well, I do my best thinking and creation as I type, so I'm sitting here at the computer and tap out my thoughts of what to offer you today. And in so doing...

What can I do now that's never been done?
what words do the work that will still feel like fun?
What can I say that the cards haven't captured
what can I say that will leave you enraptured?

Trying to express what's a matter of heart
leaves me quite lost as to what to impart
For with sonnets and poems and songs that exist
I ask, "What can I add that the others have missed?"

Hmmmm. Well maybe today I should go with the flow
and offer the thoughts that we all love and know
With no twists of plot and no thoughts too profound
but just simple advice for both seeker and found

For whether romance, a home or a business affair
it just goes without saying that love should be there
For yourself, for another, for the wide world at large
it's the basis of love that should lead every charge

For you'll find that with love--and not fear--at the helm
that your journey will move to a whole different realm
Where the people, events, every thought, word and deed
will confirm what's been said that "love IS all you need"

So perhaps there's no mystery today I've revealed
just a journey of thoughts that express what I feel
But today, what I share, I can say with elation
that like LOVE, friend, the process is its own inspiration!
