TODAY'S REFRAIN:
I've finally learned who peers out
from behind each pair of eyes
It's always been no one but me!
--my maker in disguise!

"Because he's not like me or us"
or words to that effect
Is how we seek to justify
a world that seems a wreck

We think of all as distant,
separate beings unconnected
And therefore see no cause
to all the chaos we've effected

But think of what the world has known
that to this day persists
That's based on the illusion
that DISUNITY exists

And think of all the things you do
and that to you are done
By people who believe the lie
we're all not really one

Then think of how your day would be
if all you say and do
Was done with the belief that
everyone is really you!

From play, to work, to world affairs
to strangers on the street
How would you act if now you saw
yourself in all you meet?

And love and hate, and good and bad
and all that men allow
Might change if we were forced to think:
"Who's going to feel it now?"

The truth is, what I do to you
is done by me to me
I'm no more separate from the whole
than waves are from the sea

So now amongst each other
and our maker in our hearts
Let's see ourselves as whole
and more than just the sum of parts!

COMMENTARY:
It seems like the age-old refrain of simply doing unto others as you would have them do unto you." But, indeed no greater wisdom was ever spoken, because, in truth and in fact, anything we do to "another," we do to ourselves. Any judgment we make; any pain we inflict; as well as any support, praise and love we extend to another, is visited on us. This is true on an interpersonal level (in our relationships); on a global level (as members of the collective called earth), as well as on the ultimately spiritual level (as spiritual expressions of all that is).

This is true because there's really just one of us, experiencing itself through trillions and trillions of expressions of itself. You are but one of these expressions. But the whole of which you are a part remains the same. You can't escape it, because you are it.

So therefore, extend that awareness of who and what you really are to every level of your interaction with everyone you meet today. In every face you see, stop long enough to ask how should I act towards this person? because I'm really just interacting with another part of ME.

NOTE: Today's life rhyme is inspired by my understanding of the Neale Donald Walsh's Communion With God, and the THIRD of the Ten Illusions of Humans: that "disunity" exits. These ten beliefs form the basis of the flawed perception of reality that causes all of mankind's woes. The ten illusions are

1. Need Exists (covered in Life Rhyme #278)
2. Failure Exists (covered in Life Rhyme #280)
3. Disunity Exists (today's Life Rhyme)
4. Insufficiency Exists
5. Requirements Exist
6. Judgment Exists
7. Condemnation Exists
8. Conditionality Exists
9. Superiority Exists
10. Ignorance Exists
