''A Cup of Sugar, and a Little More Thyme!''

might have sweetened the pot
with the result that all might have been fed:
But your choice of ingredients
has soured the meal
and now one will go hungry to bed
Just a little bit of thyme
might have bettered the taste
but older recipes instead were defended:
Just a little bit of patience
would keep all in good cheer
but instead, the whole banquet has ended....
COMMENTARY:
A business supplier I've had for the past five years was recently bought out by a larger company. The new management just recently took over and consequently, I no longer have direct personal contact with the Billing Manager, nor, as I quickly learned, the flexibility of the payment plan I once enjoyed with the previous owners. Quite simply, the new billing manager threatened to cut off my supply in one week unless all previous balances were paid in full. While it's every business' right to do so, I on principle, decided to take my business elsewhere.
I always have a plan "B" because I believe (as I extol in my workshops) that any plan for success that is based exclusively on the favor of a sole individual or entity is inherently flawed. So, I spent the next several days searching for and eventually finding a new supplier. I made the transition smoothly just a day before the deadline.
So what have I learned from this? Well, from my point of view, it's a blessing (as are all events in my life) as I've found a new supplier whose prices are less than 10% of what I was paying before, and which will, therefore, save me thousands each year! From the point of view of my previous supplier, (whom I hope has the same "blessing in disguise" philosophy I do) however, think of all the thousands of dollars of income which might have been retained but for the price of a little leniency and patience. So, don't let your business, relationship, or success suffer for want of a cup of sugar, and little more thyme!
OUTTAKE:
Just that one cup of honey
might have filled every cup
and in time brought you all you deserved:
But without it the flavor has turned bitter instead
with the result that now no one is served!
