It's true more often than you think
here's how you can be sure
Most people choose their roles in life
based on their inner fears
And act on how they view the world
no matter who's out there
A prior hurt, a troubled past
a life of sticks and stones
All this in them you may evoke
through no fault of your own
It's not the you they'd likely love
that they're responding to
But every thought of what life's been
or what they're going through
So on those days you find yourself
the target of their fears
It's never you they're seeing, friend
with that in mind, who cares?!
THE MORAL:
You're not what others think you are
you're not the things they say
You're not the things they do to you
and neither too are they
COMMENTARY:
Having said that, dear reader, your mission is to identify less and less with the you of others' thoughts and expectations, the you of your job or what you do, and the you of the outer facade. Once you really feel that you are truly a unique being defined by something other than what is seen, then you'll realize that what others typically respond to is never you at all!
From now on, when faced with what you previously thought was rejection, or the feeling of being misunderstood, or unappreciated, remind yourself silently
