''Lend Me Your Eyes''

goal-less actions
unwarranted fears
and overreactions
Humorless outlook
blurried perception
low self-esteem
misguided direction
Do you happen to see
the same thing I do?
Does the world that I see
appear likewise to you?
Or have I been tricked
by a past that's been hard?
Been fighting so long
that I'm always on guard
This house that I've built
seems about to collapse
So lend me your eyes
just for a moment perhaps
And then maybe I'll see
something new that I've missed
And then maybe I'll know
what new options exist!
COMMENTARY:
Do you know someone whose past has made them a bit negative in their outlook? Do you know someone whose self-image has been shaped to such a degree that they don't see the good in others or themselves?
Sometimes the best help you can provide that person is simply to lend them your eyes. You may be fortunate enough to have eyes that have not seen depression, defeat, destruction and dismay. Or, you may have eyes that have seen pain, but have also seen hope. Share your eyes. Tell that person how you see the world. Tell them how you see them in the world. Sometimes the most powerful form of therapy is simply to let someone borrow your eyes. Try it right now!
