''Busy Looking Left''

In the chain of
sought and seeker
no one's looking to the right
For all are looking left
at that which
grabs and holds their sight

In the quest for
troves of treasure
some will mine for wealth afar
And miss acres of diamonds
that exist
right where they are

In due time when
you stop running
and slow down enough to see it
You might find the thing you're chasing
has been there
right at your feet

COMMENTARY:
From a conversation with a friend about the ups and downs of dating:
The irony of the dating game is that each person is often "looking to the left" and therefore fails to notice the interest of the person standing to their right, who in turn is missing the gaze of the person to their right, in an unending chain of unrequited love.

So it is, too, in other games of search and seek that we miss the thing most sought because it is too close to be seen. But, the wise always look both ways before they get cross!:-)
