In circumstances life presents
clear moments not to miss
The chance to ask Whom shall I be
in relation to all this?

Will I be left to this right?
Will I be up for this down?
Will I be good to this bad?
Will I be smile to this frown?

For I can never really know the cold
if things have never been hot
To know myself as what I am
I must first know what I am not!

COMMENTARY:
The nature of reality is that we are defined physically, mentally and spiritually by our selves in relationship to others. We only know who we are in our interactions with other people. Our chances to learn about ourselves, and to choose who we will become only exist when we interact with other people

We can define ourselves as happy only if there is something we call sad. We can define ourselves as positive only if there is such a thing called negative. We can choose who we wish to be only if there are those we know who are where we wish to be, and those who are not.

So embrace the opportunities that interacting with others offers you. Accept the role that people and circumstances play in your life simply by being who they are, and instead of crying "foul!," simply ask yourself, "Who do I wish to be in relation to this?," and the answer you find will determine your reaction to life. Note: The first few Walt's Friday Inspiration emails included quotes from various authors and personalities. It wasn't until episode 19 that I tried my hand at writing the rhyme-based inspirational messages myself. The rest, as they, is history...
