''On the Level''

For years my life has been a pattern
etched in place since very young
I've looked at life as if a ladder
and each victory as a rung

Collecting prizes and winning favor
I never stopped to savor the view
Always "taking it to the next level"
and finding a new challenge to pursue

So with each new task I accomplished
I pushed myself to go much higher
But of this endless restless journey
it seems in time I soon would tire

And then I looked around and noticed
that I was blinded to my good
For the level sought after and envied
was now exactly where I stood

So when time comes in your journey
when the thrill to climb is gone
Look not to seek more new levels
but to seek more of the level you're on!
