''The Feeling That You Seek''

each one a worthy prize
But often fail to give relief
when seen through older eyes
For cash alone can't buy a smile
or change a bankrupt heart
And playing king with inner shame
makes life a dull bit part
And world acclaim and things won't match
a mom's adoring gaze
We fill this void called peace of mind
in often futile ways
So chase the carrot but know
that it's for more that we're all meant
And take the time to spend the time
or you might wonder where it went
When loved, secure, and self-assured
you'll laugh when things look bleak
For you'll know it's not the thing at all
but the feeling that you seek
