A life lived in a world of foes
is a life lived all alone
Don't play the helpless victim
in supporting role or lead
A starring role as scapegoat
is a role they'll always need
Avoid the frequent battle scenes
or you might succumb to rage
No hero rises free of scars
from the wars that others stage
Don't play the village idiot
though there are always roles to fill
Once cast as clown to jeer or mock
then mock they always will
Yes, the world's a stage as someone said
and each must play a part
But choose your own and at day's end
ask: have I followed script or heart?
