''Today I Woke a Different Man''
a non-event in fact
Three mornings past a shift occurred
from which I now look back
It seems I woke a different man
a man I'd long yearned for
With powers and abilities
unknown the night before
A newer, sleeker version of myself
I'd have to say
Achieving dreams beyond my grasp
just prior to that day
I'd love to know just what I did
to bring this change about
To share with those who lose their way
when progress is in doubt
A nighttime visitation?
Or perhaps a genie's blessing
I searched the skies and ground below
but can't get beyond guessing
Perhaps the years of wishing, wanting
yearning it be so
Just reached a saturation point
in truth I just don't know
Perhaps it's just a simple truth
of seeds and men who sow
So don't lose sight of your sweetest dreams
'cause hey, you never know!
COMMENTARY:
From grand career accomplishments to simply being able to smile comfortably in social settings, everyone has an image of him or herself they aspire to bring to life. Hold tight. Tonight may be the eve of a different you.
