Perhaps it's true we've nothing shared
that brings us eye to eye
Perhaps we'll ever live apart
and never even try

Perhaps not through our choice of vice
can peace talks ever start
For alcohol and cigarettes
can drive us far apart

Perhaps not through religious views
can warring men find peace
For my god beats up your god
and so tensions will increase

Perhaps not in our taste for food
can men dine side by side
Perhaps not in our skin tone
'slong as color lines divide

Perhaps not in our fashion sense
can I walk in your shoes
Perhaps not even bloodtype
for As and Bs just can't transfuse

But hopes and dreams will bind us
to the family next door
For every parent seeks the best
for children that they bore

So when you think the walls are up
and much too high to scale
The inner hope of better selves
is that which shall prevail!
