I give with no strings
and I take with no liens
for I don't wait on men for my means

I love without fear
and I make no demands
for my happiness is in my own hands

I welcome the years
and I fear not their toll
for my health is a thing I control

I face free of fret
any word thought or deed
for all things work to help me succeed

I live as I please
and I love being me
for my truths have long since set me free!

COMMENTARY:
I had the opportunity recently to honor a customer's request for a free book. It had me thinking about my philosophy for giving and also about other life philosophies that have served to free me from the inevitable unhappiness of unmet expectations. What's your philosophy for giving? for loving? for dealing with society's, parent's and others' expectations of you?

How much happier could you be if you adopted and lived philosophies that empowered and set you free? Suppose you could partner with those who made you feel good without regard to financial security or societal expectations? Suppose you knew that health didn't come from little pills, but from the lifestyle and dietary choices you make every day? How much freer could you be to share your wealth if you knew that your abundance came through others but not from them?

I had a friend tell me once that she doesn't lend money to friends because she's seen it destroy many a friendship. My philosophy is that lending money only destroys friendships if you have the expectation of getting it back. So, in this season of giving, I suggest that you give because you can; because you have it to give; or, because you want to; but not with the expectation of getting anything in return from or any change in behavior of the individual to whom given.
