Hi Walt --
I attended the seminar at the Learning Annex last night (I'm the woman who sang "I Feel Good") and just wanted to drop you a note to say thank you. It has taken some time for me to understand that there are no coincidences in life...you see, every time I ask myself if I am moving in the right direction I am answered with blessings like your seminar.

Fear (fear of failure or perhaps fear of success) has been such a paralyzing factor in my life and I have committed myself to change and overcoming that challenge. There are two passions that I have been drawn to pursue and I have been blessed with souls who have dedicated love and time to my efforts.

The first is my love of music and my strong desire to use my voice to help people feel good about the lives we live. In the quest of celebrating life in my own way, I seek the wisdom of others, through song and through other artistic expression...which led to the creation of "Woven Paper Wonders" [my own] decorative keepsakes and gift boxes I have given myself until October 2005, to develop and launch the full website, produce a Rhonda Denet LIVE! cd and dvd, and line up a gig with local dinner cruises as well as more playing opportunities throughout the city. With regards to woven paper wonders, I have a partner, and our goal is to develop a full line of themed and quote boxes as well as a substantial custom order clientele. (You're probably thinking...get to the point).

Well the point is that every day gets better, every moment and interaction lets me know this is the right thing for me. I have been more focused than ever before, but from time to time that old habit of succumming to fear grabs me by the throat. Last night that changed, I know I am no longer alone! Reading books is one thing, but being in the presence of one who has acheivef dispite that same fear stirs my soul (I was so filled with joy and excitement last night I can't even explain).

Thank you so much for sharing your story and your inspiration. I am a Learning Annex work-study volunteer, so I will definitely keep an eye out and take as many of your classes that fit my schedule. I am buying your book from St. Marks books today (pay day)!

Be well, Rhonda Lipscomb

Walt Replies:

Yes, Rhonda. I've found that sometimes my role is quite simply to show up to let others know I leapt, I lost, then licked it, and I lived to tell the tale. It's a little push that can serve to get others rolling again. Thanks for contributing your song during the "massage break" at the workshop (To those who weren't there, see what you missed?), and for letting me share your email!--Walt

An Easy Roll

Sometimes when you're lost
and you start giving in to fear
All you really need to know
is yes, the road's still there

Sometimes when the engine's on
but wheels just seem to spin
A touch is all it takes
to free you from the mess you're in

Sometimes when your vision's blocked
beyond the crests and turns
Reminders of your goal appear
and clarity returns

Yes, sometimes on this road called life
the easy role you play
Is giving hope by meeting
those who've yet to make their way

Just knowing those who traveled
who're alive to tell the tale
Makes possible the dream
you too can prosper and prevail!
