Don't let their doubts derail you
don't let their walls confine
Don't occupy the world
their narrow thoughts and words define

Don't give up on your vision
don't sell your soul or heart
Don't walk away from dreams
for what you dream sets you apart

Don't live below your magic
don't settle for life's crumbs
Don't let the taste for less
be the main course your life becomes

No, don't ever doubt your worth
don't ever fear that they won't buy
The world always pays the price
when what is great's in short supply!

COMMENTARY:
While strolling through the bookstore this week, I came upon the preview edition of GOAT (Greatest of All Time) a 75 lb, almost 2-foot high, 800 page book chronicling the life of Muhamad Ali. (You've GOT to check this out!) The price tag for this tribute to a life of greatness is $3,000, or $7,500 for the "Champ's Edition."

Wow. Think about that. There will be those, (and I may be one of them), who will pay up to $7,500 for a single gargantuan book that tells the story of one man's trials and triumphs; a testament to a living legend who transcended sports to become an icon of greatness for generations to come; man who never forgot his own greatness nor where it came from.

It's a reminder of what one can accomplish when committed to the passionate pursuit of a dream and one's purpose. And this uniquely-priced publication, which, according to a quote on the publisher's website...

"This is not a book. This is a monument on paper, the most megalomaniacal book in the history of civilization, the biggest, heaviest, most radiant thing ever printed - Ali's last victory." - Der Spiegel, Hamburg

...is a reminder that the basic law of economics (Supply and Demand) is at work. In our world, the truly great are in short supply, and the world pays the price.
