''A Conversation of Choice''

SHE SAID:
"I had it planned so perfectly
it was to be my day
The 'best laid plans of mice and men'
just didn't go my way"

"Perhaps a change of scenery
will lift me from this mood.
I'm hoping this vacation ends
my tendency to brood"

I SAID:
A good idea, I offered
at least it couldn't hurt
But, uhm, might I suggest the thoughts
I use to 'mood convert'

A thing once done, as Shakespeare wrote,
cannot be then undone
Accept what's done then let it pass
like day at setting sun

Then waste no time on mulling
and let your thoughts not stew
Unless there is a cure to cook
or remedy to brew

You know well my philosophy:
why choose what makes you sadder?
"All for the best" and "silver linings"
yadda, yadda, yadda

First choice, then change, is how it's done
so rather than be vexxed
Your mood and manner's yours to choose
so ask yourself, "What's next?"

I'm sure that this excerpt from a private conversation I had with a friend (name withheld to protect the forlorn) can apply to all of us!
