''Spinning Wheels''

I want to do things differently
but just can't figure out how
I want to be a better person
not next week but now

I want to make a bigger list
of all that I should do
And one by one address them all
like I've been wanting to

I want to live a life of faith
and trust my fellow man
To know despite appearances
things unfold as I plan

I want to tap the mother lode
of all my inner wealth
And live life to its fullest state
in happiness and health

I want to move things quickly
I've been stagnant for too long
Dance boldly to a different beat
and sing a different song

But darn, my wheels are spinning
as if they just don't touch the ground
I feel like I'm in limbo
'til I learn something profound

And then a voice reminds me
of something I already know
"To hold the thing you most desire
you first must let it go..."

"On levels way below our sight
is where we make our fate
And sadness comes because
we rarely want what we create"

"Don't waste your tears on outcomes
that surely is your safest bet
Seek not to get to make you pleased
be pleased with what you get!"

COMMENTARY:
I can hear you now saying, "But Walt, this seems to contradict your inspiration about focusing on results." Ok, now here's the deal. Until you reach the level of mastery, what you intend is not always what you end up creating. You may be unaware of the creative process that is taking place on a subconscious level (i.e. "on levels way below our sight"). Therefore, you should be open to the seemingly unanticipated occurrences that come your way. For example, if you plan and work towards A but end up getting B, do not be alarmed and distressed, but simply learn to accept it. Unhappiness is caused by unmet expectations held too firmly. The more attached you are to a particular outcome, the unhappier you'll be if you do not achieve it at first. Seek your outcomes, but don't be too attached.

"Be pleased with what you get" does not mean to be satisfied with what you get either. It means simply to accept it as your own creation, grow from that awareness, then continue to createfrom an ever-evolving state of mind.

So when it seems your wheels are spinning and things aren't coming along quickly, remember this lesson.
