''Willing to See Differently?''

but let me ask before we start
Are you willing to see things differently?
if not, then let's just part
I know you feel quite justified
to hold tight to your view
So why on earth would I think that
you'd let it slip from you?
You've come equipped with tools and such
to shore your house of thought
Intent to get a full return
on viewpoints that you've bought
But if for once, you'd let them go
you might see what I see
If not it might be best to just
agree to disagree
For so intent we are sometimes
to paint the world our way
We often never take the time
to hear what others say
COMMENTARY:
It's been said, "a man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still." Often during my workshops I find myself engaged in discussions with individuals who are so wedded to their views of one reality, that they refuse to cooperate with my efforts to show them another. Therefore, I often ask before we start, "Are you willing to see things differently?" No new thoughts can be introduced to a closed mind. Note: The first few Walt's Friday Inspiration emails included quotes from various authors and personalities. It wasn't until episode 19 that I tried my hand at writing the rhyme-based inspirational messages myself. The rest, as they, is history...
