''Re-Meet ''

aka "To Every Bee Who's Got Pollen To Share"

It's so odd that we keep meeting each other like this
What on earth do you think that it means?
It's as if some weird force has now linked both our paths
now we're destined by fate to convene

It's my ardent belief that there's something afoot
deeper reasons or kismet at work
that there's something, some thought we're supposed to now share
that it's NOT one of life's random quirks

Yes, I've thought long and hard about meetings like this
Over time here's the secret I've found:
that the good that we seek comes through people we meet
and more so as we find common ground

For the cycle of life binds us one to another
And survival's a mutual affair
And every flower has nectar to give in return
to every bee who's got pollen to share!

COMMENTARY:
Had a conversation earlier this week about the power of those seemingly random encounters, and those recurring ones that my friend referred to as "re-meets."

I believe that there's hidden power in the meet and the re-meet. It stems from a belief that we live in a friendly universe; a universe that supports our dreams and goals and aspirations at every moment; a belief that the thing we seek is also seeking us. A belief that life, nature, God, the universe wants us to grow and expand.

Nature's support of the imperative for growth and expansion is a universal constant that we see playing itself out everywhere in life. Plants supply the oxygen that animals need to breathe, and animals supply the carbon dioxide plants use for their own growth. The bees, birds and bugs support the flowers in their struggle to grow by carrying pollen that supports the flowers, and the flowers supply nectar that feeds the pollen-bringers. I believe that we, as humans, all have some pollen to share with each person we meet to help them blossom and grow. I believe that every good thing that occurs in our lives will come as a result of the thoughts, words or deeds of other people.

That's why I don't believe that any encounter is really random at all. A person's pollen (ie. their contribution or blessing) may simply be a smile on an otherwise dreary day. Or they may provide a contact that results in a much desired career change. Or they may impart some information we've been seeking for things to make sense in our lives.

Whatever that gift is, if you search for it, you'll find it. And, if you miss the opportunity the first time, you may get the nugget of knowledge you need from another person further along your path. Or perhaps, in those cases where you seem to keep running into a particular person, the universe might be staging a "re-meet" to give you another chance to figure out the common ground you share with that individual. Be vigilant. Bees abound!

Dedicated to Connie. T. A.
